Description

Chandranahan Lake Trek is one of the most beautiful summer treks in the Himalayas. It is located at an altitude of 13,700 ft and is the source of the famous Pabbar river. The lake is in the shape of a bowl surrounded by snow-clad peaks, which fed the lake. Trekking to this lake is a thrilling adventure as you climb up to a height of 14000 ft, crossing many alpine lakes. Apart from the lakes, this trek also hosts the scenic meadows of Dayara. Camping on these mind-blowing meadows is a pure privilege. On Dayara meadows, you also witness one of the most scenic sunrise as well as the sunset.
The starting point of the trek that is Janglik is a quaint hamlet in the remotest areas of Himachal Pradesh. From Janglik, you trek inside the lush green forest of Oak and Pine. Trekking inside these forests gives you a sense of calmness and the opportunity to witness the variety of flora and fauna. With so much to offer, the Chandranahan lake trek is an impressive trek for summer.

Itinerary

Day 1: Shimla to Janglik

  • Drive from Shimla To Janglik

The adventurous journey of Chandranahan Lake Trek starts from Shimla on day one. Our representative picks you up from the Shimla Bus Stand at 7 am. From Shimla, the drive to Janglik Village passes along the famous Pabbar river. Driving along the river is a thrilling experience as you witness lush green valleys, large farm fields surrounded by beautiful Himachali homes, and pretty villages. The drive ends after an 8-hour journey at Janglik Village, where you will stay for the night.

Day 2: Janglik to Dayara Thach

  • Trek from Janglik to Dayara Thach
  • Time Taken: 4-5 hrs
  • Accommodation: Alpine Tents
  • Altitude: 9,200 ft to 11,000 ft

Today you will trek through one of the most beautiful trails. The trail from Janglik village passes along the picturesque farm fields with beautiful huts on the edges. At the end of farms, the trail enters a dense forest of Oak and pine trees. Inside the forest, you will come across gushing water streams and shepherd huts. On passing this section, the trail will open into a large expanse of lush green meadows. It is a sight to behold. You will continue to walk on the meadows for a while and again enter into a small forest. On passing this section, you will reach the Dayara Thach.

Day 3: Dayara Thach to Litham

  • Trek From Dayara Thach to Litham
  • Time Taken: 3- 4 Hrs

  • Altitude: 11,000 ft to 11,800 ft

The third day of the trek starts with exploring Dayara Meadows in the golden light of morning. It is true bliss to walk on the lush green grass glittering in golden color. After exploring the meadows, you will start the trek towards Litham. The trail, after crossing meadows, enters into a forest and reaches large water streams. Crossing these streams is a thrilling experience. On crossing the streams, the trail opens to a stunning view of the Dhuladhar range. Continuing on this trail, you will enter another beautiful forest of Silver Birch. It is one of the oldest forests and a spot for resting. From here, the trail climbs up and ends at Litham campsite.

Day 4: Litham to Chandranahan Lake and retun to Litham

Litham to Chandranahan lake is a thrilling trek. The trail from Litham ascends and reaches the snout of the waterfall crossing many streams. From here, you can see water flowing down deep in the valley. From here, the trail again ascends and ends at Chandranahan Lake. Spend time in the picturesque surrounding of the lake and head back to Litham for hot lunch.

Day 5: Litham to Janglik

  • Descend  from Litham to Janglik
  • Time Taken: 5 Hours
  • Accommodation: Homestay

After a delicious breakfast, trek down to the Janglik via the same route of Dayara meadows.

Day 6: Drive Back from Janglik to Shimla

On the last day after breakfast, drive back from Janglik to Shimla. You will reach Shimla by 5 Pm.

Backpack Offloading
Hike Brothers expects all trekkers to carry their own backpacks. But, if you wish to offload your backpack, you can offload on mule by paying charges.
Charges – Rs 1200 for the full trek.
• The backpack can’t weight more than 11 kgs.
• Suitcases/strollers/duffel bags will not be allowed.
• Backpack should have a waterproof cover.

FAQ

  1. Is this trek for beginners?
    Yes,  it is an easy  to moderate grade trek and can be done by anyone with good fitness and stamina with the help of proper guidance.
  2. What type of accommodation will be provided?
    At Janglik, you will stay at a local guest house/ Home stay. After that on all the days you will be provided dome tents, on a twin sharing basis. The tent we provide is a three men tent, hence it will have enough space for two trekkers along with their backpacks.
  3. What food will be provided?
    Throughout the trek, organic vegetarian food will be provided. If you want non-veg food then inform us in advance but you have to bear the extra expenses for it.
  4. What will be the batch size?
    The batch size will be – minimum 6 and maximum 15 trekkers.
  5. Are there any washroom/toilet facilities?
    At the campsite, toilet tents will be provided, you have to carry your personal toiletries.
  6. Will there be cellular networks?
    Janglik village is the last point where all the networks are available .
  7. Is this trek safe for female trekkers?
    Yes, this trek is completely safe for females.
  8. What is the age limit?
    Minimum age is 10 Years. However, minors aged between 10-17 years should be accompanied by parents or guardians. There is no limit on maximum age but if you exceed 60 years, carry a fitness certificate from your Doctor.
  9. Is alcohol allowed?
    Drinking alcohol is not allowed throughout the trek. This is because when you drink alcohol your body gets dehydrated which can create a lot of problems for you on the trek.
  10. How to reach Shimla?
    By Air:– Shimla (Jubbarhatti Airport) is the nearest airport from Shimla. There are some direct flights from Delhi and Mumbai, or either you can take a flight to Chandigarh Airport, which is 125 Km away from Shimla. From there you can hire a taxi or can travel by public transport.
    By Train:- The nearest station is Kalka, which connects the city with different parts of the country by the rail line. There are quite a good number of trains from the cities like Delhi and Kolkata. 
    By Bus:– Shimla is well connected with the cities like Chandigarh, Delhi, Dehradun, and Kalka through roadways. You can hire taxis as well as state buses to reach the hill station from these cities. There are even regular bus services from the nearby places to Shimla such, as Kullu (235 km), Manali (280 km), Delhi (370 km), and Ambala (154 km).
  11. At what time will we reach Shimla after the trek?
    You will reach Shimla by 4.00 pm. If you are traveling further from Shimla, keep a couple of hours as buffer time in case of delay. Book your further travel from Shimla post 6.00 pm.
  12. How to book the trek?

  13. Can I customize the trek?
    Yes, you can customize the trek but there should be at least six trekkers.
  14. What things should I pack for this trek?

    Basic trekking shoes which have high ankle, good sole and are water-resistant. 
  16. During a snow trek, what will be provided to us?
    You will be provided Gaiters and microspikes, for trekking on snow.

Cancellation Policy

  • The following refund shall be payable to the user in case of valid cancellation of a booking:
  • If the cancellation request is received before 30 days from the commencement of the trip, the whole amount paid for the trip will be refunded.
  •  If the cancellation request is received within 20 to 30 days from the commencement of the trip or package 75% of the trip cost shall be refunded.
  • If the cancellation request is received between 10 to 20 days from the commencement of the trip, 50% of the trip cost shall be refunded.
  • In cases where the cancellation request is not received before 10 days from the commencement of the trip HBA shall not be liable to pay any refund.
  • Cancellation for booking made within 10 days of departure date will not be liable for any refund.
