Do not worry, the Dayara Bugyal trek is the perfect, easy to moderate trek for beginners. It has got everything, beautiful scenic landscapes, stunning mountain views, and lush green alpine meadows. The starting point of the trek of Dayara Bugyal resides in the tiny beautiful mountain village of Raithal. It is one of the most easily accessible trekking destinations in the Himalayas.

The whole trail of the Dayara Bugyal trek is surrounded by the unending yet delightfully delicate meadows. Trekking right through the middle of this verdant wilderness, you will scale the spectacular Himalayan heights.

And the best is yet to come. As you reach the higher points, you will witness the awe-inspiring view of mighty Himalayan peaks and the incomparably dreamy Bakaria Top. From the thrilling heights of these spots, you will encounter the untamed beauty of mountains.

The trail for all-seasons

The right time to trekDayara Bugyal is throughout the year. But the Dayara Bugyal trek keeps switching the colour palate of its scenery with every season. The trail is covered with snow during the winter, while vibrant colours are galore during the summers. As you prepare your legs for this challenge, your eyes will experience the mystical allure of mountains.

Itinerary

Days 1: Dehradun to Raithal

  • Drive from Dehradun To Raithal
  • Pick up Location – Dehradun Railway Station
  • Pick up time – 7:00 am
  • Total Distance – 186 Km
  • Time Taken – 7- 8 Hours
  • Accommodation – Homestay
  • Altitude Of Raithal – 7,349 ft

Your adventurous journey will start on day 1 at 7 am. Our team will pick you from Dehradun Railway Station and then start driving towards Raithal. 

The drive to Raithal takes you through lovely forest stretches and scenic mountains of Mussoorie and Uttarkashi. For most parts of the journey, you will be driving next to the famed Bhagirathi river. 

On approaching Raithal, you will get the first glimpse of the Gangotri range, Shrikanth peak from Moryana top. Halt here for some time and capture the mesmerising view of these Himalayan peaks. 

The view of these mighty Himalayan peaks gets bigger on reaching Raithal village. Raithal is a quaint village just 38 km away from the beautiful city of Uttarkashi.raithal village

You will reach Raithal by 4-5 Pm. Post evening snacks you can explore the village which hosts some ancient architects, believed to be 500 years old. Among them is the house of king Gambhir Singh Rana and an ancient Hindu temple.

Your stay at Raithal will be in a guest house or in an authentic homestay.

Day 2 : Raithal to Gui

The second day of the trek will begin with a delicious breakfast and a short briefing by Trek Leader. After the briefing, you will start the hike towards the Gui campsite. The trail from Raithal to Gui is short and easy to climb. And it takes you through the gorgeous farm fields of Raithal village, beautiful small clearings and dense oak forest.

After trekking for 3 hours, you will reach Gui Campsite, a small clearing surrounded by pine forest. You will also find a small pond and some quaint huts near the campsite.

On reaching the Gui campsite, you eat hot lunch. And then you will pitch your allotted tents. After that, you have a whole evening to explore the surroundings.

Day 3 : Gui To Dayara Bugyal To Chilapada

  • Trek From Gui To Dayara Bugyal  To Chilapada

  • Time Taken: 6 -7 Hrs

  • Altitude: 9,750 ft to 12,100 ft ft

Today the trek to Dayara Bugyal via Chilapada is an easy hike through the forest. And throughout the day, you will have a picturesque view of mighty Himalayan peaks. 

After breakfast, you will start the hike towards Chilapada. From Gui, it takes one hour to reach Chelapada. It’s a thrilling hike as you walk through the forest with a view of snow-capped peaks in front.

On reaching Chelapada, you will come across a flowing water stream. Take a small halt here and refill your water bottles. After that, continue your hike towards the Dayara Bugyal.

As you move towards the end of the trail, you come across the lush green meadows of Dayara, locally known as Bugyals. These meadows are vast and undulating with a view of mighty Himalayan peaks. While walking on these meadows, you will be awestruck by the colourful flowers blooming all around. 

Continuing on the meadows, you will reach the final climb. A bit steep but worth it as you will end up standing in front of the Dodital range and might Bandarpoonch peak. Enjoy the picturesque view all around and trek down to the Chilapada campsite.

Day 4: Chilapada to Raithal

  • Trek From Chilapada to Raithal
  • Trek Distance: 7 km
  • Time Taken: 4 Hrs
  • Hot lunch at Raithal
  • Accommodation: Guest House

Post delicious breakfast you will descend to Raithal via Gui. It will be an easy trek. You will reach Raithal by lunch time. Your overnight stay will be in Raithal.

Day 5: Raithal to Dehradun

On the last day of your trek, after delicious breakfast you will drive back to Dehradun. You will reach Dehradun by  3-4 Pm. So, book your further travel any time after 6 pm.

Backpack Offloading

Hike Brothers expects all trekkers to carry their own backpacks. But, if you wish to offload your backpack, you can offload on mule by paying charges.

  • Charges – Rs 1000 for the full trek.
  • The backpack can’t weigh more than 11 kgs.
  • Suitcases/strollers/duffel bags will not be allowed.
  • Backpack should have a waterproof cover.

Cancellation Policy

The following refund shall be payable to you in case of valid cancellation of a booking:

  • If you cancel the trek before 30 days from the departure date, the whole amount is refunded.
  • If you cancel the trek within 20 to 30 days, from the departure date, 75% of the cost is refunded.
  • Cancellation requests received between 10 to 20 days from the commencement of the trek are eligible for a 50% refund.
  • Cancellation for booking made within 10 days of departure date will not be liable for any refund.

FAQ

  1. Is this trek for beginners like me?
    Yes, Dayara Bugyal Trek is an easy grade trek and can be done by anyone with the help of proper guidance. In fact, it is the perfect opportunity for beginners to get exposure to the Himalayan trek.
  2. What type of accommodation will be provided to me?
    At Raithal, you will stay at a local hotel/guest house. And on the campsite, you will stay in dome tents on a twin sharing basis. The dome tent provided to you is three men tent. Hence it will have enough space for two trekkers along with their backpacks.
  3. What food will be provided to me?
    Throughout the trek, organic vegetarian food will be provided to you. So that food gets easily digested and provide more nutrients to your body. 
  4. What will be the batch size?
    In your group, there will be a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 15 trekkers.
  5. Are there any washroom/toilet facilities?
    At the campsite, toilet tents will be provided, you have to carry your personal toiletries.
  6. Will there be cellular networks?
    Raithal is the last point where all the networks are available with good efficiency. While on the trek, there are some places where you get signals. Your trek leader will inform you about these spots.
  7. Is this trek safe for female trekkers?
    Yes, this trek is completely safe for females.
  8. What is the age limit?
    The minimum age is 10 Years. However, minors aged between 10-17 years should be accompanied by parents or guardians. There is no limit on maximum age but if you exceed 60 years, carry a fitness certificate from your Doctor.
  9. Is alcohol allowed?
    Drinking alcohol is not allowed throughout the trek. Because when you drink alcohol, your body gets dehydrated, and your get ill. This situation can be life-threatening for you.
  10. At what time I will reach Dehradun after the trek?
    You will reach Dehradun by 6.00 pm. If you are travelling further from Dehradun, keep a couple of hours as buffer time in case of delay.
  11. How to book the trek?
    You will find a Book Now tab on the trek page just below the trek fee. Click on the tab, fill the registration form and pay the trek fee.
  12. Can I customize the trek?
    Yes, you can customize the trek but there should be at least five trekkers.
  13. What things should I pack for this trek?
    Once you book the trek, our team will guide you and send a packing list as per the season.
  14. What type of trekking shoes are required for this trek?
    Basic trekking shoes which have high ankle, good sole and are water-resistant. 
  15. During a snow trek, what will be provided to us?
    You will be provided Gaiters and microspikes, for trekking on snow.
  16. Do you provide trekking essentials on rent?
    For renting, please confirm with our team at the time of booking. 
  17. Can I keep extra luggage at the base camp?
    Yes, you can keep extra luggage in the Raithal Village base camp.
