Prashar Lake is an alpine lake with blue water. It is located in the beautiful hills of Kullu Valley in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh.

It is believed that the sage Prashar meditated at this place, and the lake was named Prashar Lake. A small temple is located at the corner of the lake, dedicated to rishi Prashar.prashar lake

 

Prashar Lake offers 180-degree views of the Dhauladhar Range, Pir Panjal and Kinnaur Mountain Ranges. Trekking for 5 km from nearby villages through dense Oak and Rhododendron forest take you to Prashar Lake. The trail throughout the trek is easy and offers picturesque views.

Itinerary

Days 0: Delhi to Mandi

  • Drive from Delhi To Mandi (Himachal Pradesh)
  • Pick up Location –Akshardham Metro station
  • Pick up time – 8:00 pm 
  • Total Distance – 481 Km
  • Time Taken – 11 Hours

Your journey will start on day 0 at 11 pm from Akshardham metro station, Delhi. Day 0 is usually Friday night because most of the batches for this trek run on the weekend.

Once all trekkers gather at Akshardham metro station, you board the transport and leave for Dhangwach Village. After travelling for 11 hours, you will reach Mandi. From Rishikesh, you will continue your journey towards Dhangwach Village. 

Day 1: Mandi To Dhangwach Village To Prashar Lake

  • Drive from Mandi To Dhangwach Village And Trek  To Prasahar Lake
  • Distance: 30 km
  • Drive Time: 1.5 hrs
  • Trek Distance: 6 Km (approx)
  • Trek Time: 4 hrs
  • Accommodation: Tents 
  • Altitude: 6,050 ft to 8,900 ft

After a thrilling overnight journey, you will reach mandi around 9 Pm. From Mandi, you will continue your journey towards Dhangwach. It is a 30 km drive through a scenic mountain valley for 1.5 hrs.
On reaching Dhangwach, you take some rest and eat a delicious lunch. After that, you will start trekking towards Prashar Lake.

The trek takes you through dense Rhododendron and oak forest, full of Himalayan flora and fauna. It’s a thrilling walk through the jungle. In between the forest, you will come across small clearings, where you take short rest. From these clearings, you can see the snow-capped peaks of the Dhauladhar Range.prashar lake trekking

Your trek will end after 4 hrs of an adventurous trek through the forest at Prashar Lake. The moment you see the lake, it surprises you with its beauty. It is a beautiful oval-shaped lake with blue water. And at the centre of the lake, there is a small Island. You will see the island moving if your luck works. You will also spot a small temple beside the lake, dedicated to Rishi Prashar. It depicts the ancient architect of the Himachal Culture.prashar lake

Spend some time immersed in this beautiful place and then enjoy evening snacks with a beautiful sunset. You will spend the night here in tents or dooms.

 

Day 2: Prashar Lake To Mandi To Delhi

  • Trek from Prasahar Lake To Dhangwach And Drive To Delhi
  • Trek Distance: 6 (approx)
  • Time Taken: 14 hrs

Your day will start by strolling around the lake with a beautiful sunrise and scenic view of the mighty Himalayas.

After that, you eat breakfast and then start the trek towards Dhangwach. You take the same route you trekked yesterday. It will be a thrilling 2 hrs descend. From Dhangwach, you will drive back to Delhi. You will rewatch Delhi by next morning by 5 am.

    Twin Sharing – For couples at every stay. And for individuals, while staying in Alpine tents

    Mode Of Transport will be a comfortable Innova car or Tempo Traveller depending upon the number of trekkers.
    If there will be 6  trekkers then Innova car will be provided and if the number goes up to 10- 12 trekkers, then Tempo Traveller will be provided.
  4. Trekking permits.
  5. Trek equipment -Micro Spikes and Gaitors will be provided during the snow trek.
  6. Trek leader and support staff.

What's Excluded ?

  1. Meals during transit from Delhi to Dhangwach and return are not included.
  2. Any personal expenses.
  3. Mules to carry personal luggage.

Cancellation Policy

  • If you cancel prior to 10 days from the start of the tour
    Book any other Tour or get a 95 % refund. (Note: If the Tour charges are more, the balance needs to be paid by the trekker)
  • Cancellations prior to 6 days from the start of the tour
    Book any other tour or get a 50% refund.
  • Cancellation less than 3 days to the start of the tour

  1. Is this trek for beginners like me?
    Yes, Prasahar Lake Trek is perfect for you. It’s an easy grade trek and can be done by anyone with the help of proper guidance. In fact, it is a great opportunity for you to get exposure to the Himalayan trek on weekend.
  2. What type of accommodation will be provided to me?
    You will be provided high quality and hygienic dome tents or dormitory
  3. What food will be provided to me?
    Throughout the trek, organic vegetarian food will be provided to you. So that food gets easily digested and provide more nutrients to your body. 
  4. What will be the batch size for my group?
    In your group, there will be a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 15 trekkers.
  5. Are there any washroom/toilet facilities?
    Yes, at the campsite, toilet tents will be provided. In case you don’t feel comfortable in them, you can use the homestay toilet, wherever possible.
  6. Is this trek safe for female trekkers?
    Yes, this trek is completely safe for females. Because before trek Hike Brothers team ensure
    all the staff members are properly interviewed, their background and documents are verified and they are trained to conduct themselves well with all trekkers. 
  7. What is the age limit?
    The minimum age is 10 Years. However, minors aged between 10-17 years should be accompanied by parents or guardians. There is no limit on maximum age but if you exceed 60 years, carry a fitness certificate from your Doctor.
  8. Is alcohol allowed?
    Drinking alcohol is not allowed throughout the trek. Because when you drink alcohol, your body gets dehydrated, and your get ill. This situation can be life-threatening for you.
  9. When can I Book the trek?
    You can book the trek until 3 days before the departure date. But you are advised to book the trek as soon as possible, as there will be limited seats for the trek.
  10. How can I book the trek?

  11. Can I customize the trek?
    Yes, you can customize the trek but there should be at least five or six people.
  12. What things should I pack for this trek?
    Once you book the trek, our team will guide you and send a packing list as per the season.
  13. What type of trekking shoes are required for this trek?
    Basic trekking shoes which have high ankle, good sole and are water-resistant.
  14. During a snow trek, what will be provided to me?
    You will be provided Gaiters and microspikes, for trekking on snow.
  15. Can I rent out trekking gear?
    For renting, please confirm with our team at the time of booking. 
  16. Can I keep extra luggage at the base camp?
    Yes, you can keep extra luggage in Dhangwach base camp.
