Prashar Lake is an alpine lake with blue water. It is located in the beautiful hills of Kullu Valley in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh.
It is believed that the sage Prashar meditated at this place, and the lake was named Prashar Lake. A small temple is located at the corner of the lake, dedicated to rishi Prashar.
Prashar Lake offers 180-degree views of the Dhauladhar Range, Pir Panjal and Kinnaur Mountain Ranges. Trekking for 5 km from nearby villages through dense Oak and Rhododendron forest take you to Prashar Lake. The trail throughout the trek is easy and offers picturesque views.
Your journey will start on day 0 at 11 pm from Akshardham metro station, Delhi. Day 0 is usually Friday night because most of the batches for this trek run on the weekend.
Once all trekkers gather at Akshardham metro station, you board the transport and leave for Dhangwach Village. After travelling for 11 hours, you will reach Mandi. From Rishikesh, you will continue your journey towards Dhangwach Village.
After a thrilling overnight journey, you will reach mandi around 9 Pm. From Mandi, you will continue your journey towards Dhangwach. It is a 30 km drive through a scenic mountain valley for 1.5 hrs.
On reaching Dhangwach, you take some rest and eat a delicious lunch. After that, you will start trekking towards Prashar Lake.
The trek takes you through dense Rhododendron and oak forest, full of Himalayan flora and fauna. It’s a thrilling walk through the jungle. In between the forest, you will come across small clearings, where you take short rest. From these clearings, you can see the snow-capped peaks of the Dhauladhar Range.
Your trek will end after 4 hrs of an adventurous trek through the forest at Prashar Lake. The moment you see the lake, it surprises you with its beauty. It is a beautiful oval-shaped lake with blue water. And at the centre of the lake, there is a small Island. You will see the island moving if your luck works. You will also spot a small temple beside the lake, dedicated to Rishi Prashar. It depicts the ancient architect of the Himachal Culture.
Spend some time immersed in this beautiful place and then enjoy evening snacks with a beautiful sunset. You will spend the night here in tents or dooms.
Your day will start by strolling around the lake with a beautiful sunrise and scenic view of the mighty Himalayas.
After that, you eat breakfast and then start the trek towards Dhangwach. You take the same route you trekked yesterday. It will be a thrilling 2 hrs descend. From Dhangwach, you will drive back to Delhi. You will rewatch Delhi by next morning by 5 am.
